Responsibilities

• Assists the head coach with all practice sessions and games.
• Ensure compliance with NJCAA, OCCAC, and Tri‑C rules and regulations.
• Attends staff meetings when called by the head coach and/or Executive Director, Athletics, Wellness & Recreation.
• Provides emergency first aid and medical care in absence of the trainer.
• Assists with the enforcement of rules and regulations pertaining to conditioning of players and training rules affecting health and safety.
• Assists with recruitment of student athletes and scouting opponents.
• Assists with establishment and enforcement of team rules.
• Assist with conducting clinics, practices, and tournaments.
• Carries out other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and the Executive Director, Athletics, Wellness & Recreation.
• May transport student athletes in College‑rented vehicles within scope of departmental functions; must complete Compliance & Risk Management process to become an authorized driver.

Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach – Cuyahoga Community College

School: Cuyahoga Community College Position: Assistant Coach Position Type: Part‑time Organization: NJCAA

Under the supervision of the head coach, organizes and administers all matters related to Basketball and enforces all rules and regulations of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJACC), Cuyahoga Community College (Tri‑C), and the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) where applicable as a framework to instruct student athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategy and physical training necessary to achieve individual and team success. Enforces rules and regulations pertaining to conditioning of players and training rules affecting the health and safety of players.

Essential Functions

• Assists the head coach with all practice sessions and games
• Ensure compliance with NJCAA, OCCAC, and Tri‑C rules and regulations

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Minimum one year of experience coaching Basketball and recruiting student athletes
• Current or renewable Cardio‑pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
• Current or renewable First Aid or Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Certification
• Commitment to student success
• Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
• Demonstrated experience requiring diverse problem‑solving methods in a variety of situations

• Possess basic knowledge of fundamental Basketball coaching concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to apply in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree
• Basketball coaching experience at the high school or college level
• Demonstrated experience/expertise working with students with learning disabilities or special education

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

• The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment.
• The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
• Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.
• Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.
• Late afternoon practice; weekend games and travel.

This is a Part‑Time Non‑Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $15.60/hour
