Job summary

Manhattanville University is seeking a Head Coach for Men’s Lacrosse on the Manhattanville Campus. The role manages day-to-day operations, recruiting, practice planning, scheduling, fundraising, and budget oversight, reporting to the Associate VP for Athletics & Recreation.

Emphasis on academic monitoring and community relations is essential. The candidate will supervise coaching staff, maintain NCAA/compliance standards, and lead student-athletes to athletic and academic success.

Qualifications

Job Title: Head Coach, Men’s Lacrosse

Job Description

The position is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Men’s Lacrosse program including coaching, recruiting, practice planning and preparation, competition scheduling, fundraising, budgetary management, strength & conditioning, academic monitoring, and other duties as assigned. The head coach, in addition to all the requirements detailed in the essential duties and responsibilities section, is recognized as pivotal to, and responsible for, the record of the program as it relates to competitive scheduling, University/community relations and the enhancement and academic achievement of the student-athletes. The position reports to the Associate Vice President for Athletics & Recreation.

Supervisory/Duties Responsibilities
Recruiting
  • Oversee and implement all aspects of the recruiting process.
  • Identify and evaluate prospective student athletes
  • Engage in communication with the prospects, parents, coaches, and other advisors through extensive travel, written and verbal correspondence
  • Attract potential student-athletes to Manhattanville University
  • Communicate with Compliance Officer to ensure that all NCAA policies are followed
Coaching
  • Oversee and direct all aspects of coaching during practice and games
  • Enhance the development of the student-athletes lacrosse skills through team practice and one-on-one instruction
  • Ensure that proper safety procedures are followed by all student-athletes
  • Work with athletics trainers and physicians to implement team wellness and conditioning programs
  • Provide direction to the Strength and Conditioning coach as to the desired training goals
  • Understand current and changing NCAA, Skyline Conference, and Manhattanville University Compliance Policy and Procedures as they relate to the Men’s Lacrosse programs
  • Maintain consistent communication with Manhattanville’s compliance staff and athletic
  • Fully comply with the rules, regulations, and policies of the NCAA, of the Skyline Conference, and of the University and its Athletic Department and take every reasonable precaution to ensure that all members of the men’s lacrosse staff comply fully with such rules, regulations, and policies
  • Monitor academic progress of student athletes
  • Coordinate the program's fundraising activities
  • Responsible for the scheduling of contests
  • Performs other additional duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Travel required for competitions and recruiting.
  • Perform game-day supervision duties of other sporting events as assigned
  • Knowledge of effective coaching techniques and best practices
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with school administrators, parents, students, and alumni.
  • Ability to lead and work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, coaches, athletic and university administration.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree (required)

Experience:

  • Current knowledge of rules and policies of the NCAA Division III
  • Intercollegiate coaching and playing experience
  • Recruiting at a collegiate level
  • CPR/AED Certified
  • Valid Driver’s License
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to move sport-related equipment such as goals, weights, cones, etc..
  • Ability to physically perform coaching tasks such as demonstrating a drill to players
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Travel is required for competitions and recruiting.
  • Perform game-day supervision duties of other sporting events as assigned which could result in lifting items more than 50lbs
Salary

The annual salary for this position is $57,058.00.

Hours Expectation

Full-time, 35 hours per week
