Walnut Street Theatre, America's oldest theatre, seeks an experienced Head Carpenter for its scene shop. The ideal candidate will fabricate scenic elements, oversee a build crew, and maintain equipment within a collaborative environment. Previous theatrical experience and proficiency in scenic carpentry are essential for this full-time, seasonal position.
Walnut Street Theatre, America's oldest theatre, is looking for an experienced Head Carpenter for its scene shop. WST produces a five-show main stage season consisting of three musicals and two straight plays, as well as a mainstage children’s series. Primary responsibilities include: working with the Technical Direction team, IATSE crew, and apprentices to fabricate scenic elements, overseeing the build crew, and maintaining the shop and its equipment. Applicants should be expertly skilled in scenic carpentry and be able to read and understand shop drawings and draftings.Understanding of scenic wiring, welding, stage rigging, mechanical stage systems, and automation are preferred. The ideal candidate is flexible, self-motivated, can multi-task, has excellent communication skills, and has attention to detail and quality.Previous theatrical experience is preferred.
This is a full-time, seasonal, IATSE position.
