Salary:
DC is accepting applications for a full-time Technical Director/Theatre Manager. DC's mission is to graduate students prepared to impact the world through biblical thought and action. We are seeking a Technical Director/Theatre Manager who feels a calling to work, lead, and train in a Christian school environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years work experience
Technical Director
- Oversees all use of the sound/lighting equipment in the tech booth
- Demonstrates expertise in both sound reinforcement and lighting design
- Trains all students and faculty who run sound or lighting
- Schedules/assigns operators for events
- Oversees and arranges technical support for all scheduling in the Auditorium with Facilities and Rental Coordinators (chapels, performances, concerts, events, etc.)
- Maintains/repairs equipment
- Works with outside rentals to assess needs, time frames, personnel, and schedules, coordinating with DC activities to ensure support
- Provides regular student training for various tech roles (in technical theatre class, SAIL class, and/or as an after-school club)
- Supervises students involved in Tech reinforcement
- Note: Must be present for all events during school hours and after-school/weekends or ensure trained adult supervision. Scheduled hours will be flexible.
Theatre Manager
- Ensures setup, maintenance, and cleaning for events
- Coordinates teardown and re-set of the auditorium after events
- Ensures adequate supervision at all activities in the auditorium
- Oversees use of auditorium equipment
- Tracks tools and tech equipment used on campus, ensuring proper use and storage
Front of House Manager
- Oversees ticket sales, ushers, and other public relations staff for all public events
Carpentry/Set Design
- May serve as set designer/head carpenter or coordinate builders for stage productions
- Supervises or schedules students and adult builders
- Purchases and maintains tools and supplies needed for building
Other Miscellaneous Jobs
- Keeps backstage, loft, scene shop, and other spaces organized
- Supports facilities with large events (e.g., chapels, commencement, etc.)
- Schedules regular maintenance
- Teaches or co-teaches a Stagecraft class, covering set design, lighting, sound, costumes, props, hair, and makeup. Facilitates outside specialists for training.
Note: Position may involve lifting/moving heavy equipment (e.g., speakers).
