Summary
Nickerson High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to lead our baseball program as a Head Coach for the upcoming season. This seasonal position is responsible for developing student-athletes' skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting a positive and competitive environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in baseball, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to the academic and athletic growth of our players. Stipend is decided by the negotiated agreement. Job remains open until filled.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement practice plans that enhance players' skills and teamwork.
- Conduct tryouts and select team members based on skill, attitude, and potential.
- Organize and manage all aspects of the baseball program, including scheduling games, practices, and transportation.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, and academic achievement.
- Communicate regularly with players, parents, and school administration regarding team progress and expectations.
- Monitor and support the academic performance of student-athletes, ensuring they prioritize their education.
- Collaborate with other coaches and staff to promote the overall athletic program at Nickerson High School.
- Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to encourage growth and improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all school policies, league rules, and safety regulations.
- Organize and participate in fundraising and community outreach activities to support the baseball program.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level or higher.
- Strong knowledge of baseball techniques, strategies, and rules. Obtain KSHSAA certifications.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- A valid driver's license and the ability to transport players to events as needed.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all players.
Must pass a background check, physical, and TB test.
