Salary: $8,000 per year

Position Type: Part-Time

Purpose of the Job

Provide leadership for the school’s athletic program, focusing on the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the baseball program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate the baseball team in compliance with MSHSAA standards.
• Implement athletic standards as outlined in the MSHSAA Handbook and attend all required MSHSAA sessions.
• Assist in program coordination and supervision of students during practices and contests.
• Provide information and facilitate transportation, facilities, officials, and game management.
• Organize and schedule regular practice sessions with the goal of maximizing student-athlete potential.
• Emphasize safety precautions and apply best training and injury management procedures.
• Conduct oneself and the team in an ethical manner during practices and contests, exemplifying sportsmanship.
• Collect and return all school equipment per the KCMSD Athletic Department Handbook.
• Pursue professional growth through clinics and professional publications.
• Successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses.
• Fulfill 8 contact hours of professional development per year:
  • District level meetings – 4 hrs
  • School level meetings – 3 hrs
  • Outside meetings/clinics – 1 hr

Minimum Qualifications

• Hold a Teacher Certificate, a valid Substitute Certificate, or a Temporary (provisional) Teacher’s Certificate.

Preferred Qualifications

• Be a full or part-time employee in the District.
• Currently employed as a teacher or administrator in a school within the District.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands and fingers, reach, bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least 25 pounds.
