Job Description

General Purpose of Job: Preparation and service of all assigned baked items and desserts for use by the Food and Nutrition Services department.

Essential Duties

• Lead production of baked goods, pastries, and desserts, including menu planning, recipe verification, production methods, and quality assurance.
• Manage inventory, ordering, and stocking of all necessary items for the bake shop.
• Maintain cleanliness of the bake shop and report equipment repairs.
• Handle and store baked goods properly, label and date all products, and communicate orders to the buyer.
• Train new or part-time staff in bake shop operations.
• Oversee department functions in the absence of supervision, ensuring proper customer service.
• Participate in hospital standards activities, such as in-services, committees, and continuing education.
• Assist PM Retail Cooks with overnight meals as needed.
