Albright College is seeking a Head Athletic Trainer to supervise and coordinate the College’s overall sports medicine program, including injury prevention, evaluation, management, and treatment of athletic injuries, as well as rehabilitation, education, and healthcare administration for athletics.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Provide athletic training services for the College’s athletic department, including attendance at team practices and competitions;
  2. Coordinate student-athletes' physical examinations, medical referrals, and determine their ability and eligibility to practice and compete in consultation with the Team Physician(s);
  3. Schedule and coordinate diagnostic tests, fitting and ordering of medical equipment;
  4. Perform pre-participation orthopedic screenings on all student athletes before their season;
  5. Coordinate and schedule long-term rehabilitation with physical therapy providers if needed;
  6. Oversee the Athletic Training Staff, including training and supervising all associated staff and student workers;
  7. Identify medical service needs for the athletics department and coordinate staff coverage for practices and competitions;
  8. Consult with Team Physician(s) on treatment plans and report progress;
  9. Serve as liaison between student health services and the athletic department;
  10. Report injury statuses to coaching staff and hold periodic meetings to discuss issues;
  11. Maintain all medical records and organize the athletic training room files;
  12. Complete injury claim forms and manage insurance policy information;
  13. Review and approve medical bills and insurance claims, ensuring compliance with NCAA rules;
  14. Assist in developing and managing the athletic training budget and supplies;
  15. Develop and maintain a Sports Medicine handbook and facility rules;
  16. Enforce codes of conduct and ensure proper use of athletic training facilities and equipment;
  17. Participate in maintenance and upkeep of the athletic training room;
  18. Organize NCAA drug testing and serve as On-Site Coordinator if required;
  19. Lead substance abuse and supplement education programs;
  20. Serve as a Clinical Instructor for Athletic Training students and assist in preparing students for certification exams;
  21. Oversee Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan;
  22. Establish emergency action plans and weather policies in collaboration with relevant parties;
  23. Coordinate with strength and conditioning staff on injury prevention, nutrition, and rehabilitation;
  24. Collaborate with the college health center and food services on nutritional issues and eating disorder prevention;
  25. Work with equipment staff to ensure safety and proper fitting of athletic gear;
  26. Maintain relationships with facilities and athletic directors regarding safety and conditions;
  27. Complete Medical Hardship Waiver applications;
  28. Represent Albright College at conferences and meetings;
  29. Maintain BOC certification and Pennsylvania licensure;
  30. Perform other duties as assigned.
