Job summary

WD is building the infrastructure behind the AI-driven data economy. We seek a Mechanical Simulation Engineer to join an international team delivering cutting-edge HDD technologies.

You will work across engineering disciplines to develop and optimize high‑volume, reliable storage solutions for hyperscale data centers and cloud platforms. Ideal candidates are pursuing or have completed an MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering with strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Demonstrated analysis skills from industry or academia.
• Proficient in mechanical analysis and design tools (ANSYS, HyperWorks, MATLAB, SolidWorks).
• Knowledge of dynamics and vibration control, testing and data analysis.
• Hands-on lab experience with Laser Doppler Vibrometers, Fourier analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.

Responsibilities

• Simulate HDD servo-mechanical systems using FE methods (statics, dynamics, vibro‑acoustics).
• Validate results with correlation experiments.
• Collaborate with mechanical/servo design engineers to optimize designs.
