Job summary

Seagate Technology seeks a Mechanical Design Senior Staff Engineer to lead the design and development of Head Gimbal Assemblies (HGA) and related subsystems from concept through validation. You will build FEA models, automate simulation workflows, and correlate models with experiments to drive performance improvements.

The role requires deep expertise in dynamics, actuation, and precision mechanics, with a track record of delivering manufacturable, cost-conscious solutions for high-volume HDD

Qualifications

• Advanced experience in mechanical dynamics, structural mechanics, vibration analysis, and precision actuation systems.
• Ability to apply physical understanding to build and refine models, assess simulation validity, and develop new designs.
• Experience bridging research, design, validation, and manufacturing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own design and development of HGA, flexures, suspensions, and micro-actuated subsystems from concept through validation.
• Build dynamic and structural FEA models to predict vibration and system interactions.
• Lead model-to-test correlation using LDV, oscilloscopes, NI DAQ, and high-frequency instrumentation.
• Mature concepts from exploratory research through production-readiness assessment.
