WD seeks a Mechanical Simulation Engineer to join an international team developing cutting-edge mechanical technologies for HDD products. You will perform advanced simulations and work across engineering disciplines to deliver high-performance systems.

Qualifications

Must be pursuing or have completed an MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum GPA 3.0.
Demonstrated analysis skills via industrial or academic projects.
Proficient with mechanical analysis tools (ANSYS, Hyperworks, Matlab, SolidWorks).
Fundamental knowledge of dynamics and vibration control, testing, and data analysis.
Hands-on lab experience using laser vibrometers and data analyzers.

Responsibilities

Simulate complex HDD servo-mechanical systems using FE methods including statics, dynamics, electromagnetics, vibro-acoustics and CFD.
Perform correlation experiments to validate simulation results.
Collaborate with design engineers to optimize designs and propose novel solutions to meet product requirements.
Coordinate with manufacturing to ensure robust tooling and processes.
