Job summary

Drill-Tech, LLC in Philadelphia, PA is seeking an experienced Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Driller to operate HDD equipment on underground utility projects. This hands-on field role requires safe operation, adherence to project plans, and collaboration with locators, foremen, operators, and laborers to complete bores.

Headquartered in Chester, MD, Drill-Tech performs HDD and underground utility work across the Mid-Atlantic.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of HDD drilling experience.
• Minimum 7 years of HDD crew experience.
• Experience operating Vermeer, Ditch Witch, or similar HDD equipment.
• Ability to read prints, bore plans, and utility markings.
• Valid driver's license and ability to perform outdoor work.

Responsibilities

• Operate horizontal directional drilling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Complete pilot bores, reaming, pullback, and pipe installation.
• Work closely with locators to maintain the planned bore path.
• Read project plans, utility maps, bore profiles, and utility markings.
• Select drill heads, tooling, reamers, and drilling methods.
• Monitor drilling pressures, fluid returns, ground conditions, and equipment performance.
• Adjust drilling methods based on varying soil conditions.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic issues.
• Assist with equipment setup, breakdown, and jobsite organization.
• Communicate production progress and jobsite concerns to the foreman.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
