Job summary

Foster Safety is seeking a HazMat Technician based in Houston,TX, to respond to hazardous material releases and manage containment efforts. The role emphasizes rapid emergency response, proper PPE use, and adherence to incident command protocols.

You will classify materials, ensure safe storage, supervise disposal, and provide guidance on hazmat handling while coordinating with other emergency services during critical incidents.

Qualifications

• Experience responding to hazardous materials releases or potential releases.
• Ability to use PPE and containment procedures.
• Knowledge of Incident Command System and emergency protocols.
• Ability to work under pressure during hazmat incidents.
• Regulatory awareness of hazmat storage, transport and disposal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Identification and classification: Recognize and classify hazardous materials according to composition and risk.
• Safe storage: Ensure materials are stored under proper conditions to prevent leakage or contamination.
• Handling: Use appropriate PPE and techniques to minimize risks.
• Disposal: Organize and supervise safe disposal via incineration, recycling or approved methods.
• Emergency response: Respond rapidly to incidents, contain and manage the situation.
• Advice and training: Provide guidance and training on safe hazmat handling.
• Regulatory watch: Stay updated on relevant hazmat regulations and standards.
• Emergency response: In emergencies, work with other services to mitigate risks.
