Job summary

Illini Environmental is seeking a hazmat technician to support site remediation and hazardous waste cleanup across the Midwest. You will perform industrial cleaning, emergency response, and decontamination tasks in varied PPE, with emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires physical labor, flexibility in schedule, and the ability to travel. DOT physical, background check, and drug screening are required; 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent).
• Ability to perform physical labor.
• Flexibility in schedule (varied hours, on-call, weekends).
• Willing to travel when needed.
• Must pass DOT physical, background check and drug screening.
• HAZWOPER training (40-hour) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to chemical spills and releases.
• Identify hazardous materials, assess risks, and estimate affected areas.
• Implement control measures, construct barriers, and perform advanced mitigation techniques.
• Work in PPE, including Level A, following safety protocols.
• Decontaminate personnel, equipment, and job site.
• Package, label, and transport hazardous waste for disposal.
• Prepare reports, maintain inventory records, and document cleanup activities for regulators.
• Operate specialized handling equipment and train staff on safety.

An ILLINI Environmental hazmat tech will be responsible for the performance of tasks associated with site remediation, hazardous waste cleanup, industrial cleaning, demolition, excavation, emergency response, and much more. Responsibilities:

• Respond to Chemical Spills and Releases


• Identify hazardous materials, assess risks, and estimate the size of endangered areas


• Implement control measures, construct barriers, and perform advanced mitigation techniques


• Perform work in various levels of PPE, including Level A suits, ensuring adherence to safety protocols


• Perform decontamination procedures for personnel, equipment, and job site


• Package, label, and transport hazardous waste for proper disposal


• Prepare detailed reports, maintain accurate inventory records, and document all cleanup activities for regulatory compliance


• Operate specialized handling equipment, maintain gear, and train other staff on safety procedures

Qualifications:
