Job summary

County of Waupaca Emergency Management Department is seeking a paid per call responder to support chemical emergency responses across Waupaca, Portage, and Waushara counties. The role pays $10.00 per hour during training and $25.00 per hour for call outs, with on-call hours varying by incident demand.

The position requires readiness to deploy 24/7, adherence to ICS/NIMS protocols, and coordination with local agencies. Must meet minimum qualifications and complete required certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Hazardous material handling experience preferred, but not necessary to apply.
• Must be at least 21 years old and able to communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Respond to chemical emergencies and coordinate with agencies using ICS/NIMS.
• Assess hazards, establish control zones, and execute IAP under Incident Commander direction.
• Maintain records, attend training, and perform related duties as assigned.
