Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with DOT, TDG, CTU Code, and other national/international transportation regulations across all modes (DOT, IATA, IMDG, TDG, FRA, ADR).
- Manage and respond to internal and external customer requests regarding Dangerous Goods (DG) and Transportation Safety.
- Lead management of change (MOC) for DG classification and packaging.
- Respond to, investigate root causes, and provide advice for off‑site emergency response to distribution incidents involving LANXESS materials.
- Track, investigate, and manage all transportation‑related incidents to minimize impacts on human health and the environment, and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Conduct and manage DG, Transportation Safety, and warehouse audits (warehouses, sites, terminals, bulk storage facilities, tollers) and provide guidance for acquisition sites.
- Assist in troubleshooting SAP DG errors and blocks in the ERP database.
- Provide 24/7 emergency response management for any transport or warehouse incidents; act as the lead contact for CHEMTREC in North America and support LATAM as needed.
- Coordinate with HSEQs, Communications, business units, sites, and GPL to manage transportation incidents.
- Represent Lanxess in industry organizations to improve safety of DG transportation (DGAC, ACC, Chlorine Institute, CHEMTREC).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a science‑related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in transportation safety management, hazardous transportation, or related fields.
- Certified Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser.
- Strong problem‑solving skills for evaluating product chemistry and potential hazards.
- Knowledge of SAP EHS database functionality and logic.
- Advanced knowledge of current DG and Transportation Safety regulatory requirements.
