Job summary

Clean Harbors in Bristol, CT is seeking an Hazmat Driver - Environmental Field Chemist to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste across customer sites and facilities. This entry-level role offers exposure to HHW collections, lab moves, and field packing while working indoors and outdoors.

You will be customer-facing and play a key role in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position provides training, growth opportunities, and pathways into additional roles

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to perform physical functions per job requirements.
• Background check, drug test, and medical assessment may be required.
• Facial hair standards per respirator use as per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.34.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the priority by following safe work practices, policies, and procedures.
• Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests, and disposal notifications.
• Inspect staging, storage areas, and drums for leaks, spills, and labeling compliance.
• Package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and compliance.
• Perform field packing at customer locations and support HHW collections and lab moves.
• Comply with OSHA, EPA, DOT and company policies in all projects.
• Understand site-specific disposal restrictions and packaging requirements.
• Sample and profile new waste streams requiring analytical testing.
• Operate vehicles safely per DOT and local regulations.
• Support Clean Harbors' mission and participate in continuous training.
