Job summary

Athens Services in Irwindale, CA is seeking a Material Recovery Facility Spotter to maintain safe traffic flow, inspect loads for unauthorized materials, and sort waste. You will enforce safety procedures, spot unloading trucks, and coordinate with operators and supervisors to keep operations efficient.

Responsibilities include inspecting for hazardous waste, handling sorting of recyclables, and operating equipment as needed.

Qualifications

• 1-year experience as general laborer or in construction environment.
• High School Diploma / GED.
• Ability to follow safety precautions and instructions.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Inspect loads for unauthorized material at the unloading area.
• Enforce MRF safety requirements and procedures.
• Spot trucks unloading in the tipping area and maintain traffic control.
• Direct traffic safely in and out of the unloading area and controls the unloading of vehicles.
• Inspect and remove hazardous waste from all loads tipped at the MRF.
• Communicate with team members including scale house operators and foremen.
• Coordinate stopping activities to pull hazardous waste from waste streams.
• Report emergencies to the proper manager.
• Operate equipment in support of inspection and sorting process.
