Job summary

VLS Environmental Solutions, LLC in Montclair, CA, seeks a Shipping Clerk to coordinate and document the safe, timely movement of hazardous waste from the transfer station, while maintaining accurate inventory and regulatory shipping records (DOT/EPA).

You will partner with facility operations to ensure outbound waste complies with management plans, review manifests and shipping papers, enter data into the tracking system, and support dispatchers and drivers with schedules and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years shipping hazardous waste preferred.
• 1–3 years warehouse experience preferred but not required.
• Strong leadership, oral and written communication.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word.
• Detail-oriented and organized.
• Track and report customer variances in real-time.
• Knowledge of data entry and inventory software programs.

Responsibilities

• Review outgoing hazardous-waste manifests, bills of lading, shipping papers and waste profiles for completeness and accuracy.
• Enter shipment, container, customer, transporter and destination data into the tracking system.
• Track each shipment’s arrival date and 10-day holding period.
• Maintain daily inventory of drums, totes and containers by waste stream and location.
• Verify container counts, IDs, weights, descriptions and waste codes.
• Ensure shipments are assigned to approved transporters and receiving facilities.
• Coordinate pickup and delivery schedules with dispatchers, drivers, customers and facilities.
• Prepare outgoing paperwork and driver document packages.
• Document transfers between transporters and obtain signatures on manifests.
• Communicate loading priorities to warehouse and forklift staff.
• Perform general clerical duties and prepare reports.
