Job summary

Veolia in North America is seeking a hazardous waste preparation technician to safely prepare materials for incineration and stage them for processing. You will wear PPE, break down materials, and ensure accurate weighing and documentation of all charges.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals and fractions, and use simple formulas.
• Ability to interpret charts and use adjustable measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

• Assemble boxes and stage materials for processing and repackaging waste into charge boxes for incinerator.
• Wear proper PPE and follow environmental protection procedures.
• Break down and extract waste materials from containers for processing.
• Process materials into solids, mixes, or slurries and repackages per plan; weigh to meet specifications.
• Record all material processed using electronic scanning devices.
• Move charges to incinerator dock and consolidate material for incineration.
• Reclaim vendor drums for recycling and crush non-reusable drums.
• Maintain cleanliness and inventory of department supplies.
• Change air supply banks as required to provide clean air.
• Coordinate with leadmen and incoming shift crews.
