Job summary

Manatee County Government seeks an HHW/E-scrap facility technician at the Landfill in Bradenton to receive, sort, and prepare HHW, electronics, and batteries for recycling or disposal. The role involves assisting residents, ensuring safety, and maintaining compliant operations.

Expect to operate forklifts, follow PPE and County procedures, and support collection events. A high school diploma is required; forklift experience and HAZWOPER training are preferred; Florida driver's license required

Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate required.
Prior experience with HHW facility is preferred.
Minimum of one year experience operating a forklift.
Valid HAZWOPER training/certification required or obtainable within six months of hire.
Landfill Operator Certification within one year of hire.
Valid Florida driver license required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Receive HHW, electronics, batteries, and other materials from residents and customers.
Evaluate incoming materials for acceptance under County program requirements.
Assist with public education about proper disposal options and County programs.
Identify, sort, segregate, and stage materials according to safety and disposal procedures.
Ensure storage and handling areas are safe, organized, and within capacity requirements.
Operate forklifts and other equipment used in HHW/e-scrap operations.
Maintain records and prepare reports related to facility operations.
Assist with collection events and outreach as needed.
