Terra Nova Solutions seeks a Hazardous Waste CDL Driver in Greer, SC. The role involves delivering environmental and industrial services safely while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations. Candidates must have a DOT HAZMAT endorsement and 2+ years in professional driving, especially in the waste industry. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential for success in this role.
The Hazardous Waste CDL Driver (Driver) reports to the Director of Operations and plays a critical role in daily service line delivery. The Driver is usually assigned a position on one of Terra Nova’s field teams and works within that team to deliver environmental and industrial service engagements in a safe and productive way.The Driver works very closely with the Director of Operations and other staff members to execute defined and emergency service deliveries.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Safely and professionally operates company owned equipment in complete accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Provide services related to hazardous and non-hazardous waste removal as assigned.
Classify, segregate and inventory waste containers in storage for shipment. Conduct lab pack operations. Pack small laboratory containers of chemical waste into larger containers for shipment.
Perform various regulatory Training, compliance and safety tasks including, but not limited to: Pre-trip inspections of vehicle, report all losses, spills, accidents, Leaking Containers, waste diversion and safety violations to supervisor immediately. As well as support and play an active role in the Company’s Health and Safety management system including tracking, near miss documentation, audits, and training.
Demonstrate professionalism and leadership skills on sites and with vendors, coworkers, and management.
Process and prepare Universal Hazardous Waste manifests, bills of lading and Land Disposal Restrictions (LDRs) for hazardous waste shipment according to state, EPA and DOT regulations.
Perform warehouse work related to receipt, shipment, storage, distribution, or delivery of waste materials. Loads, unloads, moves, or stores items according to delivery or routing documents, or supervisor instructions.
Adhere to assigned route via electronic routing system.
Maintain the basic functionality & cleanliness of assigned company vehicle & equipment.
Perform other necessary duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to speak professionally and courteously with customers and staff at job sites.
Ability to Operate a Hand Truck, Drum Dolly, Pallet Jack & Forklift.
Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to follow instructions.
Must show demonstrated success in being reliable and maintaining safe operations.
Ability to remain focused in a busy environment.
Ability to work individually or with a team.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of maintenance and basic repairs associated with machinery or vehicle.
Education and Experience:
DOT HAZMAT Endorsement REQUIRED.
CDL A – Tanker endorsements REQUIRED.
Driver E-Log Experience
Strong working knowledge of Environmental/Regulatory/DOT rules and regulations.
Minimum 2 years’ professional driving experience required. Waste industry experience REQUIRED.
Must have mid-level knowledge of most (51%) of Terra Nova’s current service offerings with respect to equipment operation, means and methods, compliance, Health and Safety, etc.
Basic Computer Skills a must. Knowledge on how to use & troubleshoot computer software applications including Microsoft Excel, Work and Outlook highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to physically operate heavy equipment.
Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, and Standing required.
Sitting, often for extended periods of time, is required.
Must be able to pass a Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) and wear a respirator.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Position is physical in nature and requires push/pulling, lifting, sit/standing, and exposure to outside elements.
Must be available for emergency rotations and/or overtime as necessary.
Ability to work in all types of weather, including hot and cold temperatures.
