Job summary

Environmental Compliance Consultants (ECC) is seeking a Hazardous Waste/Hazardous Materials Inspector to perform routine and unscheduled inspections of storage areas to ensure regulatory compliance. Based in Alaska with sites in North Pole and Anchorage, you will verify labeling, segregation, containment, and storage conditions.

The role requires obtaining a 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (assistance available), strong attention to detail, good documentation, and the ability to work

The Hazardous Waste/Hazardous Materials Inspector is responsible for ensuring hazardous waste and hazardous materials storage areas comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This position performs both scheduled and unscheduled inspections, identifies and documents noncompliance issues, and supports corrective actions to maintain environmental safety, regulatory readiness, and overall operational integrity. Training will be provided for the successful applicant prior to performing inspections on their own.


Requirements

  • Conduct routine and unscheduled inspections of hazardous waste and hazardous materials storage areas to ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Verify proper labeling, segregation, containment, accumulation times, and storage conditions.

  • Inspect safety equipment, spill kits, and emergency response materials.

  • Identify, document, and track noncompliance issues and corrective actions utilizing a government database.

  • Maintain inspection records and prepare clear, accurate inspection reports.


Qualifications

Required:


  • Ability to obtain a 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (assistance available).

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.

  • General computer proficiency.

  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening (including marijuana), background check for military installation access, and occupational physicals.

  • Ability to drive a company vehicle to/from inspection locations on a military installation.

  • Positive attitude, integrity, and strong work ethic.


Preferred:


  • Experience in environmental compliance, hazardous waste management, or safety inspections.

  • Experience working on military installations.

  • Knowledge of chemical compatibility, SDS interpretation, and spill prevention.
