Job summary

E2 Consulting Engineers, LP seeks a skilled Utility Distribution Planner to support major electric utility clients nationwide. The role covers reviewing applications, coordinating with stakeholders, cost estimates, and preparing construction-ready job packages, with work localized to Hawaii.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree in electrical engineering or technology, 3–5 years of planning/designer experience on distribution projects, and familiarity with NESC.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology from an accredited college.
• 3–5 years of planner/designer experience on distribution system projects.
• Familiarity with utility infrastructure planning workflows (application review, RFI responses, cost estimating, and job package preparation).
• Working understanding of NESC or similar standards.
• Ability to perform field inspections and document findings per client or agency standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with MicroStation and O-Calc for reviewing design submittals.
• Willing to relocate to Hawaii or reside on one of the Hawaiian Islands.

Responsibilities

• Review electric service applications for installations of overhead/underground utility facilities.
• Review and provide comments on project submittals throughout the project life cycle.
• Review RFIs and respond in a timely and accurate manner.
• Prepare initial bill of materials and cost estimates.
• Perform field inspections and prepare field reports.
• Prepare complete job packages containing all final information needed to construct each project.
• Validate design information against utility standards.
• Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate effectively in a team environment to meet scope, schedule, and budget.
