Job summary

Pacific Seafood is seeking a Hatchery Technician I - Nursery Crew in Quilcene to support daily hatchery operations in a physically demanding environment. You will perform routine production and sanitation duties, assist across hatchery departments, and load/unload bags using a crane in accordance with safety procedures.

Compensation: $18.50 - $20.00 / hour

Summary: As a Hatchery Technician I - Nursery Crew, you will support daily hatchery activities in a physically demanding, hands-on operations environment. You will perform routine production and sanitation duties, assist across hatchery departments, and load and unload bags using a crane in accordance with training and safety procedures. You will help maintain product quality and productivity, identify opportunities to improve operations, and work with the team to meet location, division, and company goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Daily Operations:

• Follow operational SOPs to ensure optimal husbandry conditions are achieved in all areas of the hatchery: , algae, larvae, single seed, and setting.
• Follow sanitation SOPs to ensure high levels of biosecurity and cleanliness.
• Assist supervisors in all aspects of hatchery operations.

2. Sanitation, upkeep, and maintenance:

• Identify and communicate any discrepancies or maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Record activities on proper forms.
• Assist with maintenance as directed.

3. Hatchery Operation and Equipment:

• Drain, clean, and fill tanks in accordance with established operating and sanitation procedures.
• Load, move, and unload bags during tank operations using an approved crane and rigging equipment, following required training, lifting procedures, and safety protocols.
• Confirm that supplies and equipment needed for daily operations are available and ready for use.
• Collect and record operational data using equipment such as fluorometers, calculators, scales, and beakers.

What you bring to Pacific Seafood

Required:

• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to work Daytime, Weekends and Holidays.

Preferred:

• Experience in Shellfish or Finfish Hatchery operations.
• Experience operating forklifts, cranes or other heavy equipment.

• Capable of training in using specialized tools and equipment pertinent to operations.
• Capable of solving simple math equations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
