Job summary

Pacific Seafood in Nespelem, WA seeks a Fish Culturist to oversee feeding, harvesting and inventorying operations on our aquaculture farm. This full-time role reports to Dan Garrett and requires hands-on work in outdoor, variable conditions.

Key duties include monitoring environmental and feeding parameters, operating computerized feeding systems, maintaining assets, and contributing to productivity, quality, safety and cost control while collaborating with a dedicated team.

Qualifications

  • Two years aquaculture or related experience.
  • Ability to read safety rules and manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports.
  • Ability to speak before groups of people.
  • Experience with Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor feeding and environmental conditions.
  • Learn and utilize computerized feeding systems and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Maintain company assets in good operational condition.
  • Improve operations regarding productivity, quality, safety and costs.
  • Work independently and in a team setting.

Compensation: $22.00 - $28.21 / hour

Summary:
The Fish Culturist will become familiar with all operations of the farm including feeding, harvesting, and inventorying.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Be a role model in projecting and applying The Pacific Group Diamond Philosophy (Productivity, Quality, Excellence and Teamwork) and promote teamwork at all times.
  • Monitor feeding and environmental conditions.
  • Learn and utilize computerized feeding systems and be able to troubleshoot when necessary.
  • Maintain company assets in good operational condition.
  • Work to continuously improve operations with respect to productivity, quality, safety, inventory levels and operating expense while utilizing effective aquaculture techniques.
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team setting.
  • Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to multi-task.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned
What you bring to Pacific Seafood

Required:

  • Minimum two years applicable experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Experience with Excel and Word.

Preferred:

  • Experience in trout and/or net pen farming is preferred

  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.)
