Job summary

Pacific Seafood is seeking a Hatchery Technician I in Quilcene to support all hatchery activities, ensuring maximum quality and productivity. You will perform routine duties, suggest improvements, and collaborate with all departments to meet company and location goals.

Responsibilities

• Follow SOPs to maintain optimal hatchery conditions in algae, larvae, single seed, and setting.
• Assist supervisors in all hatchery operations and communicate discrepancies or maintenance needs.
• Record activities on proper forms and assist with equipment maintenance.
• Operate tank operations including draining, cleaning, and refilling as directed.

Summary

As a Hatchery Technician I, you will assist in the completion of all hatchery activities to ensure maximum quality and productivity. Having a strong work ethic, you will use your knowledge to complete routine duties, recommend improvements to current operation, assist in all departments, and collaborate with all operations to meet company, division, and location goals.

Key Responsibilities

Sanitation, upkeep, and maintenance:

Hatchery Operation and Equipment:

• Daily Operations: Follow operational SOPs to ensure optimal husbandry conditions are achieved in all areas of the hatchery: , algae, larvae, single seed, and setting.
• Follow sanitation SOPs to ensure high levels of biosecurity and cleanliness.
• Assist supervisors in all aspects of hatchery operations.
• Identify and communicate any discrepancies or maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Record activities on proper forms.
• Assist with maintenance as directed.
• Tank Operations: Drain, clean, and fill using proper procedures.
• Ensure all required supplies are on hand for operations.
• Using proper equipment to collect and record required data: Fluorometer, Calculators, Scales, Beakers, and Etc.

Required

What you bring to Pacific Seafood

• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to work Swing Shifts, Weekends and Holidays.

Preferred

• Experience in Shellfish or Finfish Hatchery operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Experience operating forklifts or other heavy equipment.

Physical Requirements

• Must be available to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to watch and react to changing situations, to ensure safety.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand or walk for long periods.
• Ability to use hands and fingers to carefully complete tasks and skillful actions, making sure to pay close attention to details and accuracy.
• Ability to read a limited number of two and three-syllable words and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
• Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• Ability to understand and carry out written or oral instructions.
• Capable of working and communicating in loud environments, while focusing on tasks.
• Capable of training in using specialized tools and equipment pertinent to operations.
• Capable of solving simple math equations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
