Prestage Farms is seeking a Poult Room Technician to support the hatchery team in processing freshly hatched poults and ensuring their health and well-being. The role involves performing essential servicing tasks and coordinating with hatchery staff to maintain high standards throughout the poult room.

The ideal candidate will work independently, apply company policies, and participate in the safety program while contributing to cost control and efficient operations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Performs servicing elements such as debeaking, toe nail trimming and dewclaw removal.
• Works with hatchery associates to maintain poults health and processing standards.
• Maintains high standards in the poult processing room and communicates with department heads.
• Works independently and applies company policies and procedures.
• Adheres to safety programs and attends regular safety training.

Job description

Prestage Farms is seeking a Poult Room Technician who will work in conjunction with the other associates to expedite the process of performing the necessary services to the newly hatched poults. The poult room technician serves as a team player within the department to facilitate the health and well-being of the poults. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

• Performs the necessary servicing elements that are acceptable to the standards of reasonable poultry husbandry practices that include but not limited to debeaking; toe nail trimming; dewclaw removal; and works with all relevant parties regarding cost control.
• Carries out a number of activities associated with poult servicing and processing procedures; performs task and work methods in a manner as to increase work unit effectiveness and efficiency; and carries out assignment and/or functional responsibility on a daily basis.
• Works ethically and directly with all hatchery associates; establishes criteria for acceptable work behavior and performance; evaluates each task by comparing work quality to performance standards; and performs the necessary elements to maintain high standards throughout the poult processing room.

ADA Requirements

• Constant lifting of poults that weigh 60 grams
• Lifts loaded poult boxes in excess of 25 pounds
• Sit on a stool for the duration of the processing day while standing is permissible at some stations
• Individual is expected to shower before entering the facility and wear a company uniform
