Job summary

Aviagen in Elkmont, Alabama is seeking maintenance personnel to manage the general maintenance function at the hatchery, ensuring safe working conditions and regulatory compliance. You will partner with management to create and maintain a safe work environment.

Responsibilities include basic mechanical repairs across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and building systems, plus installing wiring, performing routine maintenance, and keeping work areas clean.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, flooring, masonry, electrical, welding, roofing, machinery, mechanics, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC).
• Must be able to use basic hand tools.
• Must be able to read, understand, and follow task-specific instructions, such as lock-out/tag-out procedures.
• Must be a team player with strong verbal skills and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic mechanical repairs at our hatchery including plumbing, lighting, heating, air conditioning, etc.
• Check, install, and repair equipment such as controllers, watering, ventilation, generators, wells and septic systems.
• Repair wooden structures, work with chicken wire, replace electrical and plumbing fixtures, cut Plexiglas to fit frames.
• Maintain buildings, greasing equipment and ensure equipment operates properly; install cat6 wiring.
• Clean work area after shift and follow safety procedures.
