Position Overview
The position is responsible for participating in hatchery Embrex processes, including pulling eggs from setters, operating the clear egg remover, pulling rots, ensuring proper vaccination, and placing eggs in the correct hatchers. The schedule typically includes Fridays, Saturdays, Mondays, and Tuesdays from 5:00 pm to 3:00 am.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in hatchery quality control, animal welfare, biosecurity, and safety programs.
- Comply with the company’s low transfer crack assessment expectations.
- Ensure correct eggs are pulled and placed into the appropriate hatchers.
- Work in environments exceeding 100°F and withstand unpleasant odors.
- Lift, push, or pull 50 lbs. repeatedly and perform tasks involving standing, walking, lifting, bending, squatting, pushing, grasping, kneeling, reaching, and stretching.
- Set up and clean up of processes, halls, and setters.
- Stay until all hatchery duties are completed to verify quality.
- Train to fill in for team member absences.
- Maintain a safe, efficient, and economical operation by guiding team members and monitoring safety.
- Participate in egg set process, chick transfer, and processing, and serve as a point of contact for questions or concerns.
- Maintain detailed documentation on transfer, processing, vaccine tracking, and egg placement.
- Monitor machines and equipment, document findings, and coordinate repairs or adjustments as needed.
- Assist in creating and updating training materials for team members.
- Cross-train in other hatchery roles as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including working nights, days, holidays, or weekends.
- Enforce all safety, quality, and food safety policies.
- Promote a positive work environment through effective communication and cooperation.
- Complete all tasks before leaving the premises.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.

- No poultry or bird ownership.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English preferred.
