Job summary

Aviagen Turkeys Inc. is seeking candidates for Hatch Crew positions at our United States hatchery. This role involves cleaning hatchery areas, sanitizing equipment, transferring eggs from setters to hatchers, and preparing day-old chicks for sexing and delivery.

You will perform general duties and support welfare standards and SOP compliance. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, stand for extended periods, and have reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work under pressure.
• Must have own reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for cleanliness throughout the hatchery building
• Clean/sanitize machines, tables, floors, ceilings, etc.
• Transfer eggs from setters to hatchers
• Make boxes and other general duties
• Handle day-old chicks in accordance with welfare standards and SOPs
• Meet all operating procedures as outlined by company policy
• Prepare newly hatched chicks for sexing and farm delivery
• Perform other duties as assigned

Job Description Summary

Aviagen Turkeys Inc. is a leading poultry breeding company with opportunities all across globe. We are currently looking for individuals for Hatch Crew positions. These position may be responsible to dipping eggs, transfer the eggs from the setter to the hatcher and will take care of cleaning and sanitizing machines, floors, walls and ceilings, and/or supporting poult prep and shipment processes.

Job Description

• Transfer eggs from setters to hatchers
• Make boxes and other general duties
• Handle day-old chicks in accordance with welfare standards and SOP’s
• Meet all of the operating procedures as outlined by company policy
• Prepare newly hatched chicks for sexing and farm delivery
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required
• Must be able to complete repetitive work and stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work under pressure
• Must be able to perform tasks with limited supervision
• Proven reliability in work attendance and willingness to give best effort
• Must have own reliable transportation

Physical Requirements

• Ability to handle physical work
• Work with chemicals, such as detergents, disinfectants
• Stand for extended periods of time (6 hours)
• Grip, grasp or twist using hands and wrists
• Lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50lbs
• Bend and stoop repetitively throughout out shift
• Prolonged exposure to dry and dusty environments
• Routinely work up to 6 days a week, including weekends and holidays
• Routine handling and interacting with day-old chicks
• Ongoing presence of hatchery related debris, smells and odors
• Climate exposure both hot and cold
• Working in damp and/or wet environment
• Working in a loud/noisy environment
