Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools is seeking a prospective tutor who will support intervention services designed to assist Chesterfield County students. A college degree is preferred but not required, with pay differences based on degree status and license.

The tutor will align with Virginia Standards of Learning, collaborate with lead-teachers, review topics, support differentiation, and provide feedback on student progress while helping set mastery goals.

Qualifications

  • Requires general knowledge of academic skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to tutor and supervise students.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, parents and staff and to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and assume responsibility without direct supervision; to prioritize work and to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Bachelor's Degree and Valid VA Teaching License. Experience teaching or tutoring is preferred.

Physical Demands

Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to use a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear, understand speech and speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly at normal levels indoors and on the telephone. Physical agility to lift up to 25 lbs. bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.

Work Environment

The employee regularly works in a school or office setting. The noise level is quiet to moderate.
