Job summary

Virtex in Plano, TX is seeking a cable harness assembler to fabricate wire and cable harness assemblies using documented procedures and tooling. The role requires reading drawings and BOMs, cutting/stripping wires, crimping terminals, and assembling harnesses with insulation sleeving and cable ties.

Training responsibilities are included. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or 2–4 years in harness fabrication, be able to read wiring diagrams, and hold IPC J-STD-001 and

Qualifications

• HS diploma or 2–4 years in harness fabrication.
• Ability to read drawings and wiring diagrams.
• IPC J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 certified or able to obtain.
• English speaking and basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate wire and cable harness assemblies per documentation.
• Cut, strip, crimp, and assemble wires and connectors.
• Read, understand, and interpret drawings and BOMs.
• Use hand tools and automated machinery safely.
• Assist in training Cable Assembly 1 employees.

• Cut and strip wire to specifications

• Perform mechanical assembly
• Assist in the training of Cable Assembly 1 employees

Requirements

• Read, Write, and speak English
• Understand, and execute instruction from management
• Ability to read drawings and wiring diagrams
• Use appropriate hand tools to cut, strip, pin, and tin wire
• Use automated machinery for cutting, stripping, and pinning wire
• Route and tie cable assemblies
• Required education and experience:
• Prefer a high school diploma or 2-4 years' experience fabrication cable harness
• Must be able to obtain or be currently certified to: Workmanship Requirements for Electronics and Cable Assemblies in accordance with IPC J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620
• A description of the physical demands:
• Must be capable of performing repetitive motion tasks.
• Sufficient strength in hands to use hand tools for extended periods to crimp pins on wires
• Must be able to differentiate colors
• Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds
• Ability to sit and/or stand for 2-hour periods
• Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms

• Safety glasses required when cutting wire with hand tools or cleaning with alcohol.
