Job summary

The Baillie Group, via its AHI division, is seeking a Hardwood Lumber Grader / Inspector for the West Point, VA facility. This full-time role focuses on applying NHLA grading rules to inspect green and kiln-dried domestic lumber and ensure quality and safety.

Candidates should have NHLA certification or equivalent experience, at least one year in lumber grading, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. First shift, benefits offered.

Hardwood Lumber Grader / Inspector Summary

AHI, a member of The Baillie Group, is hiring for a hardwood lumber grader / inspector for their West Point, VA location. This is a great opportunity for an individual with prior lumber grading experience. This is a full-time opportunity working for a world class hardwood lumber manufacturer.

Hardwood Lumber Grader / Inspector Responsibilities:

• Applies NHLA grading rules to inspect lumber at production rates, while maintaining the required grading accuracy


• Communicates with sawyers, machine operators and lumber stackers to ensure a consistent flow of quality lumber


• Work safely and help maintain a safe work environment

Hardwood Lumber Grader / Inspector Qualifications:

• NHLA certified or equivalent experience


• Possess ability to accurately apply NHLA rules


• Minimum of one (1) year experience grading green and kiln dried domestic lumber - this is not an entry level position


• Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a focus on safety and quality


• Minimum - Anticipated Maximum Salary: $18 - $23/hour*
