Job description

We are currently looking for an Electrical Hardware Test Engineer to lead the comprehensive validation of PCBAs for our upcoming energy storage and battery technology. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming electrical specifications into actionable test plans, conducting hands‑on evaluations, and providing detailed documentation of your design insights.

You will collaborate across the Electrical, Firmware, Systems, and Hardware departments to ensure that all circuit boards adhere to strict functional, safety, and reliability standards. This position requires a proactive, hands‑on approach to prototype hardware, where you will be tasked with defining the most effective methods to measure and verify performance requirements.

The ideal candidate possesses a solid background in electrical engineering and thrives on translating complex or ambiguous requirements—such as load, voltage, or interface specifications—into structured and repeatable testing protocols.

Your Responsibilities

Create comprehensive verification and validation test plans derived from system and electrical requirements.
Analyze engineering specifications, product requirements, and electrical schematics to inform your testing strategy.
Convert technical requirements into precise, repeatable, and clear testing procedures.
Select the optimal instrumentation, environmental conditions, loading parameters, and fixtures to ensure accurate validation of every requirement.
Conduct direct electrical testing on both production‑intent and prototype PCBA hardware.
Verify critical parameters such as signal integrity, power performance, current, voltage, and resistance to help maintain high product quality.
Execute dielectric withstand and Hi‑Pot testing to ensure all electrical safety standards are met.
Perform repetitive validation cycles to ensure consistent hardware performance over the product lifecycle.
Address gaps or ambiguities in requirements by developing robust test strategies that capture the original design intent.
Design test setups and procure the necessary tooling, fixtures, and lab instrumentation.
Systematically run validation tests across various hardware revisions and multiple circuit boards to ensure reliability.
Evaluate test data to confirm whether the hardware meets all established performance benchmarks.
Maintain thorough documentation of both pass and fail results to provide clear evidence of hardware performance.
Prepare and present validation reports to the engineering team to facilitate continuous improvement.
Collaborate with Electrical Engineers to pinpoint design flaws and recommend necessary circuit modifications.
Support failure analysis by correlating test observations with schematics and design requirements.
Coordinate with Systems and Firmware teams to address hardware functionality influenced by firmware interfaces.
Contribute to the development of scalable validation processes to support the deployment of Gen 2 battery systems and expanded test coverage.

Your Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Proven background in test engineering, verification, or electrical hardware validation.
Proficiency in interpreting electrical requirements, circuit diagrams, and complex schematics.
Demonstrated ability to build test plans from scratch based on engineering specifications.
Deep understanding of core electrical principles, including circuits, loads, resistance, current, and voltage.
Practical experience conducting hands‑on testing of circuit boards and PCBAs.
Proficiency with standard lab equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, and Hi‑Pot testers.
Ability to define and implement testing methodologies rather than just following existing procedures.
Strong technical writing skills for creating clear, professional reports.
Capability to troubleshoot anomalous test results and communicate findings to stakeholders.
Adaptability when working with prototype hardware and evolving test fixtures.
Methodical attention to detail when executing repetitive testing tasks.

Preferred Experience

Experience working in high‑reliability environments such as power electronics, aerospace, defense, EVs, or energy storage.
Background in validating hardware against formal engineering standards.
Experience drafting validation procedures for hardware that is still in the development phase.
Familiarity with electrical interfaces and firmware‑controlled hardware systems.
Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams including Mechanical, Systems, Firmware, and Electrical Engineering.
Ability to design custom test fixtures or identify specialized instrumentation needs.
Knowledge of electronic test bench software or automated testing equipment.
Experience with hardware qualification and reliability testing protocols.
