Job summary

Giant Eagle, Inc. is seeking Hardware Team Members to assist customers on the sales floor and help them locate products. As a Hardware Clerk, you’ll be trained by experienced Team Members and process customer orders using our register system.

We are looking for team players who strive to support colleagues and contribute to a positive shopping experience. The role requires flexibility for evenings, weekends and holidays; prior retail knowledge is helpful, but not required.

Job Description

Experience Required: 0 to 6 months
Experience Desired: Possess a vast product knowledge of hardware related products along with a willingness to learn; Sales and marketing experience with retail programs, establishing relationships and working with customers; A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction; Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills; Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business
Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalent
Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain safety as the top priority for our Team Members, guests and products.
• Properly handle products and equipment in accordance with food safety and safety guidelines.
• Provide unparalleled guest service, constantly striving to delight and surprise our guests, vendors and stakeholders.
• Become familiar with the products in the ACE Hardware department in order to answer questions and make suggestions to guests.
• Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
• Replenish products on the shelves.
• Participate in the processing of new shipments.
• Maintain cleanliness of department and work area, including the back room.
• Actively participate in, and promote, an environment which embraces diversity, inclusion and respect for Team Members, customers, vendors and the community.

The hiring range for this position is $14.00- $14.25 per hour/year. This range represents the anticipated base pay for this role. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, education, and location. Eligible employees may be offered health, vision, and dental insurance, personal/sick paid time, 401(k) retirement savings plan, bonus potential, paid bereavement, vacation and paid holidays.
