Job summary

Giant Eagle, Inc. is looking for a Hardware Lead to support the day-to-day operations of the Hardware department and help maximize sales while ensuring excellent customer service.

Responsibilities include assisting the Team Leader with scheduling, inventory, merchandising, and maintaining safe, clean store conditions in line with company values and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 0–6 months.
• Experience in hardware, plumbing, electrical, construction, or contracting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean environment meeting OSHA requirements.
• Provide products and services to customers per company values.
• Assist Team Leader with scheduling and delegation to maximize store profits.
• Assist with inventories by tracking weekly reports and ordering materials to meet customer needs.
• Stock merchandise and maintain shelves and displays with proper rotation.
• Answer customer questions promptly and accurately.
• Assist in merchandising plan implementation to meet financial objectives.
• Monitor out-of-stock percentage and ensure proper procedures are followed.
• Support cost control and profitability through supply chain excellence.
• Maintain inter-department communication to support marketing objectives.
• Keep department records accurate and ensure documentation is available.
• Assist with designing and building displays with other departments.
• Keep department clean with regular clean-ups and sweeping.
• Operate paper baler to prepare bales.

Job Summary

As a Hardware Lead, you will assist the Hardware Team Leader in the day-to-day operation of the Hardware department. You will aide in maximizing sales and profitability and controlling expenses while ensuring the department is optimally stocked and merchandised, and that all customers are provided with excellent customer service.

Experience Required: 0 to 6 months

Experience Desired: Experience in like industry i. e.: hardware, plumbing, electrical, construction, contracting background desired

Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalent

Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds

Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean environment to ensure health and OSHA requirements are met.
• Provide products and services that meet the requirements of internal and external customers at all times and abide by the company's statement of values.
• Assist Team Leader with scheduling employees and delegation of work assignments, effectively utilizing employees and supplies to maximize the store's profits.
• Assist Team Leader with inventories by tracking weekly reports and ordering raw materials and supplies in order to meet customer requirements and maximize profits.
• Stock merchandise and maintain shelves and displays including product rotation.
• Answer customer questions by responding pleasantly and accurately.
• Assist in the implementation of merchandising plans using guidelines and suggestions in order to meet financial objectives of the store.
• Ensure proper procedures are being followed so that the store meets out-of-stock percentage goals.
• Assist in monitoring operations, seeking ways to control company costs and increase profitability, and utilize supply chain excellence.
• Maintain communication processes with other departments in order to develop marketing plans which help to meet the financial objectives of the store.
• Maintain accurate department records and ensure documentation of activities are available.
• Assist with designing and building displays and working with other departments as needed.
• Keep department clean by assisting with clean-ups and sweeping as necessary.
• Make bales by operating paper baler.

The hiring range for this position is $15.50– $15.75 per hour/year. This range represents the anticipated base pay for this role. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, education, and location.
