Job summary

Apple Inc. in Cupertino, California, is seeking an enthusiastic Systems Engineer to join our hardware team. You will own electrical architecture, lead schematic creation and layout, and drive bring-up, debugging, and validation of complex hardware systems for next-generation products.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams, perform proof-of-concept prototypes, analyze failures, and contribute to production readiness. Travel to contract manufacturers is expected about 5 weeks per year.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required, with 2+ years of hardware design experience.
• Strong EE fundamentals in DC/DC conversion, power and signal integrity, analog/digital design.
• Hands-on experience with component selection, circuit design, schematic capture, and placement.
• Proficiency with PCIe, USB, I2C, Thunderbolt, SPI, UART, HDMI and PCB/flex layout.
• Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes and multimeters for bring-up and validation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and select components through detailed data-sheet analysis.
• Design schematics and layouts for multilayer PCBs, including HDI boards and fine-pitch BGAs.
• Lead prototype bring-up, debugging, functional verification, and electrical characterization.
• Perform electrical validation using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, network analyzers, BERT, VNAs).
• Analyze factory data to ensure hardware quality and robustness.
• Review factory test fixtures and manufacturing test plans for hardware validation.
• Debug manufacturing issues, drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions into design and process.
• Communicate and present status on priorities and deadlines.
• Travel to contract manufacturers (approximately 5 weeks/year).
