Job summary

Penguin Solutions in Maynard, MA seeks a self-driven Hardware Systems Engineer to perform in a fast-paced, multi-location setting with a focus on CPU/GPU, memory, storage, IO, and software-defined storage solutions. You will test, benchmark, validate firmware, and collaborate with CTO, Manufacturing, and Product Management for technical guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Solid understanding of computer architectures, integration patterns, and components.
• Hands on experience with storage and networking technologies like SAN, NAS, CSIs, CNIs, and cloud storage solutions.
• Proficient in compute and storage management software and tools (IPMI, Redfish, etc.).
• Scripting skills in Python.
• Preferred experience in software defined networks.
• Preferred experience in software defined storage.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with other internal and external groups.
• Familiarity with CUDA, ROCm, OpenCL or equivalent.
• Familiarity with containerized and virtualized technologies like Kubernetes, VMware or Hyper-V.
• Strong sense of initiative and ownership.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering analysis of identifying, analyzing, and resolving compute and server related issues.
• Perform prototype and product reviews and validation to ensure product reliability and performance.
• Test and debug applications within the engineering organization.
• Work with cross-functional teams to resolve and implement required functions and features.
• Work with cross-functional teams to provide guidance for new product release.
• Tracking, testing and documentation firmware used in shipping products.
• Provide support and technical consultation to customers and internal teams if requested.
