Job summary

Penguin Solutions in Maynard, MA seeks a self-driven Hardware Systems Engineer to design, test, and validate server architectures including CPU, GPU, memory, storage, and IO. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Solid understanding of computer architectures, integration patterns, and components.
  • Hands on experience with storage and networking technologies like SAN, NAS, CSIs, CNIs, and cloud storage solutions.
  • Proficient in using compute and storage management software and tools (IPMI, Redfish, etc.)
  • Python scripting experience.
  • Preferred experience in software defined networks and software defined storage.
  • Ability to work in a team and collaborate with internal/external groups.
  • Familiarity with CUDA, ROCm, OpenCL, and containerized/virtualized tech like Kubernetes, VMware, Hyper-V.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering analysis to identify, analyze, and resolve compute and server issues.
  • Conduct prototype reviews and validation for reliability and performance.
  • Test and debug applications within the engineering organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement required functions.
  • Provide guidance for new product releases to cross-functional teams.
  • Document firmware testing and track usage in shipping products.
  • Offer technical support to customers and internal teams when needed.

Job Overview

We are seeking a self-driven, highly motivated Hardware Systems Engineer to perform in a fast paced, multifunctional and multilocational organization. The candidate must have experience and knowledge of overall computer architecture and server integration including CPU’s, GPU’s, Memory, Storage, IO and software defined storage solutions and suitable hardware. The engineer will perform testing, benchmarking, firmware validation, and work with our CTO, Manufacturing, and Product Management organizations providing technical guidance and support.

Projects will range across an extensive portfolio of technologies used in High-Performance and AI computing and associated storage and networking solutions. Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional teams to provide guidance for new product release.
  • Tracking, testing and documentation firmware used in shipping products.
  • Provide support and technical consultation to customers and internal teams if requested.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with 3+ years of experience.
  • Solid understanding of computer architectures, integration patterns, and components.
  • Hands on experience with various storage and networking technologies like SAN (Storage Area Network), NAS (Network Attached Storage), CSIs, CNIs, and cloud storage solutions.
  • Proficient in using compute and storage management software and tools (IPMI, Redfish, etc.)
  • Scripting skills in languages like Python.
  • Preferred experience in software defined networks.
  • Preferred experience in software defined storage.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with other internal and external groups.
  • Familiarity with industry toolkits such as CUDA, ROCm, OpenCL or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with containerized and virtualized technologies like Kubernetes, VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Strong sense of initiative and ownership.

Compensation & Benefits

The base pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position in Maynard, MA is $92,000-112,000; the pay ultimately offered may vary based on business considerations, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. The position is bonus-eligible, and there are medical, dental, and vision benefits available. There is a 401k saving plan and other benefits, such as Paid Time Off, Life Insurance, and an Employee Assistance Plan.
