Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Sunnyvale, CA, is seeking a Manager of Hardware Sustaining Engineering to lead a team of 4-6 engineers, drive RCCA initiatives, and ensure product quality across hardware platforms.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and ODM partners, and present to customers and executives. Onsite role with opportunities for impact across NPIs and sustaining programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience in a hardware design or failure analysis role including 3+ years leading and managing a hardware engineering team.
• Coaching, team building and supporting career growth of team members.
• Experience in high-speed digital hardware design, test and de-bug.
• Expertise in hardware quality, failure analysis, RCCA.
• Demonstrated success in managing multiple concurrent programs and priorities and delivering results on schedule.
• Ability to interact and collaborate effectively with cross functional teams across multiple geographies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience communicating with executive leadership and major customers.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct leadership for a team of 4 - 6 hardware sustaining engineers.
• Coach and mentor team members for high performance and career growth.
• Manage multiple concurrent failure analysis and design change projects.
• Manage priorities, allocate resources, track progress and drive to closure on schedule.
• Engage with customers and support teams to review, investigate and resolve customer escalations related to HPE networking hardware.
• Author RCCA (Root cause / Corrective Action) and other hardware quality related reports.
• Present on RCCA and other HW Quality topics to customers and HPE stakeholders.
• Drive proactive quality improvement in new products and NPI processes through closed loop corrective actions and feedback into design teams.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain and Component Engineering to address component EOL (end-of-life) replacement, second source, and value engineering priorities.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, CM (Contract Manufacturing) and ODM teams to resolve critical issues seen in manufacturing and ensure production hardware quality.
• Track team performance through regular engagement, one-on-one's and OKRs.
