Description

Hardware Sales Associates assist all customers in choosing the best products to fit their needs. Build long standing relationships with customers and continually work to develop new prospects. Hardware sales associates maintain store stock, price labels, and shelf management throughout the Hardware Store.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Assist customers in selection of product(s) to help solve their issues, offering additional products as needed.
  2. Quickly and accurately prepare quick sale, will call, and delivery orders. Prepare special orders as needed, including pricing, product information and time frame for customer.
  3. Answer and return phone calls in a timely manner to maintain a high-quality service level.
  4. Maintain cleanliness in store by shelf managing, down stocking and straightening up as needed.
  5. Promptly and accurately receive & stock incoming products, verifying product SKU’s, quantities, condition and proper location. Indicating back orders where applicable. Using ERP software to perform receipts, verify pricing, quantities, and UOM.
  6. Initiate, prepare, and stage ACE Online orders (AOS). Provide detailed notes moving through the online process.
  7. Recommend new products, based on personal and customer suggestions.
  8. Assist Cashiers as needed, ringing during employee breaks/lunches, days off etc. Assist Contractor desk as needed with ringing, questions, customer needs, etc.
  9. Maintain great communication with hardware team to ensure everyone is informed of specific issues.
  10. Forklift operation – as required and only if certified.
  11. Participate in the assembly of merchandise, whether sold or for display. Grills, snow throwers, mowers etc.
  12. Help prepare for annual inventory. Shelf management, verifying counts, assisting as needed.
  13. Provide customers with quotes in a timely fashion and update them with product changes as needed.
  14. Inspect return product(s), process return, properly issue credit notes to customers, and ensure inventory levels are accurate.
  15. Continually learn new products and improve on selling skills. Participate in vendor and outside sourced training programs to sharpen skills. Remain well informed about Hardware industry through vendors, customers, and/or other means.
  16. Maintain a high energy level, keeping a balanced workload while continuing to help prioritize walk-in customers and phone calls.
  17. Maintain a positive attitude as a team player. Act as a mentor to others, sharing sales knowledge, best practices, to advance not only individual but departmental and organizational goals in the spirit of teamwork.
  18. Always use best judgement, thinking of what is best for your team members as well as the company, and when in doubt ask a manager or other team member.
  19. Always make the customer feel that they are welcome and comfortable in the store.
  20. Stay familiar with sale items, promotional events, specials, coupons, etc.
  21. Properly and safely demonstrate the use of merchandise when requested.
  22. Display a professional attitude and demeanor, including courteous interactions with team members and company leaders.
  23. Actively contribute to the work of the sales teams and promote high standards of customer service by creating energy and enthusiasm, specifically regarding HLC products and services.
  24. Perform other duties as workload and need dictate.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
  1. Minimum high school education
  2. Minimum 2 years in a retail environment
  3. Work independently and resourcefully, a self-starter
  4. Fast learner with a good work ethic
  5. Motivated and flexible
  6. Good interpersonal skills
  7. Professional appearance
  8. Strong computer skills
  9. Excellent listening and communication skills
  10. Ability to stand for long periods of time, squat & lift up to 50 lbs.
  11. Mechanical/Technical background (hands-on experience in a technical field)
