Job summary

Vontier Corporation invites an engineering student (3- or 4-year program) to join the Hardware Reliability Engineering team for a summer internship in Greensboro, NC. You will support reliability activities for new product development and existing product sustainment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to evaluate performance and improve robustness.

The internship offers hands-on lab experience with reliability testing, data analysis, and a defined summer project.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Reliability Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; ideally entering junior or senior year.
• Basic understanding of engineering fundamentals, data analysis, statistics, test methods, and/or product design principles; interest in hardware reliability and hands-on testing.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills; ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams in a lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Support hardware reliability test planning, execution, and documentation for environmental, mechanical, electrical, and life-cycle testing.
• Assist reliability engineers with data collection, test monitoring, failure analysis, and summarizing results in clear technical reports.
• Work hands-on in the reliability lab with test equipment, fixtures, samples, and instrumentation under guidance from engineers or technicians.
• Participate in cross-functional team meetings and contribute to discussions on product reliability, test status, risks, and corrective actions.
• Complete a defined summer project and present findings, recommendations, and lessons learned to the reliability engineering team at the end of the internship.
