Job Description BAE Systems is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer for a junior-level position. The candidate will work in a fast-paced development environment as part of a multidisciplinary team designing, developing, evaluating, verifying, and supporting the Navy's Aircraft Launch and Recovery system. Travel may be required for system installation, operation verification, testing, and certification. We are looking for a creative thinker to help advance our team.

The focus will be on FPGA-based hardware, with opportunities to learn systems engineering fundamentals essential for Navy projects. The role offers a chance to develop advanced technology skills in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and quality processes vital to defense projects. Responsibilities include FPGA design from concept to production, developing engineering processes, updating drawings and documentation, system testing, and validation. Mentoring from experienced engineers will be provided, along with opportunities for networking and collaboration.

This position is located in Southern Maryland, in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor near the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.

Limited relocation assistance may be available. Applicants must reside in or be willing to relocate to St. Mary's County, Maryland or nearby areas.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• 3-5 years of hardware and FPGA firmware design experience
• CAD experience
• Ability to develop and interpret schematic diagrams and PCB layouts
• Xilinx FPGA design using VHDL
• Basic understanding of analog and digital circuits
• Ability to learn new skills and tasks
• Attention to detail and focus
• Problem-solving and creative solution development
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong math and physics skills
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Team-oriented with a proactive attitude

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of Altium Designer
• Familiarity with IEEE standards and IPC-2221
• Experience with Xilinx Vivado ML, Spartan-7 or Artix-7 FPGA families
• Knowledge of MATLAB and Spice software
• Familiarity with RF hardware, waveguides, antennas, and RF lab instruments
• Experience with PCB fabrication processes
• Familiarity with RedHat Linux, Python, C, C++

Pay Range: $77,809 - $132,275, based on market and candidate qualifications.
