Overview
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for a Hardware Engineer - Manufacturing Test Engineering (RF Systems) based out of Rolling Meadows, IL. This role supports hardware efforts associated with testing RF production hardware in a dynamic, fast-paced and technically challenging production environment. We seek individuals with a pioneering spirit, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to solve problems across functional groups.
Responsibilities
- Lead collaboration with product Design Engineer, Test Hardware Engineer, Quality Assurance Engineer and Manufacturing Technician to ensure test hardware and software meet requirements.
- Set up and support acceptance testing of Shop Replaceable Units and environmental screening at the payload (Line Replaceable Unit) level.
- Review and update hardware governing how test equipment operates; troubleshoot discrepancies in hardware designs.
- Coordinate with Electrical Design Engineering, Software & Firmware Engineering, Production technicians, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Quality to meet contractual acceptance testing and environmental screening commitments.
- Investigate, design, and provide solutions to meet new or modified testing requirements; develop and maintain test procedures for Manufacturing Acceptance testing and Environmental Screening.
- Design and maintain/revise test fixtures and stations for functional and environmental testing; develop test station concepts including schematics, block diagrams, simulations, and test requirement creation.
- Interface with multiple levels of leadership, clients, and vendors; build strong professional relationships with Manufacturing disciplines and uphold high ethical standards.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering or related STEM field with at least 5 years of relevant experience; or Master of Science with 3+ years of experience.
- Experience with programming languages such as C#, C, Java or Lab Windows CVI.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, or firmware issues; experience completing hardware projects involving hardware and software design/development and/or integration and validation on schedule and budget.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Python and MATLAB experience.
- Experience with schematic generation such as Cadence; prior hardware troubleshooting experience of test equipment or prime hardware.
- Experience in troubleshooting units under test; experience with RF electronic systems in manufacturing or design (software, firmware, etc.).
- Experience using test instruments such as oscilloscope, signal generator, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, etc.; reading schematics and electrical one-lines.
- Experience using GitHub; active Secret Security Clearance.

- #MPR Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00 with eligibility for additional compensation such as overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long-term incentives where applicable.
