Job summary

Honeywell INC. seeks a Hardware Engineer II to advance products using core hardware skills and electrical engineering in a global VE/CE context. You will design, analyze, and validate circuits for industrial instruments and sensors in a collaborative environment.

The role requires hands-on experience with analog/digital electronics, communication protocols, and EMC/EMI considerations. You will partner with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in a technical discipline such as STEM.
• 6+ years in electrical/hardware design including field instruments.
• Experience with serial protocols MODBUS/PROFIBUS or UART/SPI/I2C.
• Analog and digital electronics design and sensors knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Electrical design ownership in VE/CE responsibilities.
• Design and develop field instruments and measurement devices.
• Create schematics, perform circuit analysis and select components.
• Interface with cross functional teams (mechanical, manufacturing, ECAD, etc.).
• Develop documentation, reports, and progress updates.
• Build VE/CE ideas and contribute to NPI deliveries.
• Ensure EMI/EMC compliance and manufacturability through review.

We are currently looking for an Hardware Engineer II to work on developing products using core HW and Electrical and Electronic engineering skills.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Work in a global team with responsibilities and ownership for Electrical design in Value Engineering (VE) and Component Engineering (CE).
• Design & development experience in Field Instruments like Industrial Pressure Transmitters, Temperature transmitters, Gas Detection Instruments, Industrial Measuring & Control Instruments like Flame detectors, Flow Sensors, Thermal sensors etc.
• The responsibilities include schematic development, circuit analysis, component selection, detailed design, verification testing, arriving inference from the test results and interfacing with cross functional/support teams (such as mechanical, manufacturing process, simulation, drafting, ECAD, evaluation, marketing, supply chain and external test labs).
• The candidate will be working along with various teams such as design, simulation, drafting, evaluation, manufacturing, marketing, supply chain etc.
• Additional responsibilities include technical report generation, documentation, and progress reporting.
• It is also expected that the candidate would develop technical expertise in the product lines quickly to develop VE/CE ideas.
• Candidate is expected to have good knowledge in Electronics design with the ability to use this knowledge on VE/CE ideation.
• He / She needs to have proven record of design delivery in a New Product Introduction (NPI) team for at least 5-8 yrs.

Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
• 6+ years of experience in developing Electrical / Hardware design with:
  • Design & development experience in Field Instruments like Industrial Pressure Transmitters, Temperature transmitters, Gas Detection Instruments, Industrial Measuring & Control Instruments like Flame detectors, Flow Sensors, Thermal sensors etc.
  • Hands on experience with various serial communication protocols such as MODBUS and PROFIBUS (used by Honeywell) or UART, SPI and I2C.
  • Analog and Digital Electronics design.
  • Knowledge of sensors, instrumentation & signal conditioning electronics.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Micro-controller interfacing and Analog to Digital data conversion, designing with opamps, transistors, MOSFET, linear & switching regulators, current output (4-20mA) circuits.
  • Knowledge of designing circuits with EMI, EMC regulations, Pre & Post Compliance Testing.
  • Experience in PCB schematics & exposure to layout design in (ORCAD/Mentor Graphics).

• Knowledge of the latest technologies & low-cost alternate design/technology are preferred.
• Should have strong analytical and communication skills.
• Hands on experience with error budgeting of electronic circuits.
• Conceptualize the product and translate the requirements into CTQs for design.
• Good knowledge on Design for Manufacturability, assembly & testing expertise.
• Understanding of product certification requirements.
• Exposure to handling engineering change request and engineering change order.
• Demonstrates accountability (collaborating with others) for the design / implementation/ delivery of subsystem/product.
• Good Business Communication skills: Interacts with Partners at global locations, local team members & management stakeholders and customers for capturing requirements.
• Works with all the stakeholders to ensure that technical objectives are met with the given project/program constraints.
• Active participation in the project planning/execution phases for technical risk management.
• Understanding product certification requirements like CSA, ATEX, SIL, FM is added advantage
