Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a PCB layout engineer to design and optimize complex IC/PCB layouts. You will lead layout creation, perform DRC/DFM checks, and collaborate with circuit, system, and packaging teams to ensure design requirements are met.

The role involves selecting appropriate processes, optimizing layouts with cross-domain experts, and supporting ECAD libraries to meet quality standards. A BS in Engineering and up to 7 years of PCB experience are expected.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering is required.
• Experience delivering digital/analog HW interfaces including schematic creation and/or PCB layout, simulation and documentation.
• Up to 7 years of PCB layout design experience.
• Experience using Mentor Graphics tools for schematic and layout.

Responsibilities

• Create and design the physical layout of ICs/PCBs.
• Lead and verify layout designs with DRC/DFM checks.
• Collaborate with circuit, system, and packaging teams to meet requirements.
• Select technology/process for layout based on project needs.
• Optimize layout with SMEs in SI/PI/EMC/Thermal/Mechanical.
• Support ECAD librarians to ensure library parts meet DFM & GM resiliency.
• Work with procurement and supply chain to select suitable PCBA components.
• Apply DFA principles to optimize assembly.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and quality enhancements in PCBA manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for creating and designing the physical layout of integrated circuits (ICs) or printed circuit boards (PCBs).
• Create / lead / verify the layout design by conducting design rule checks (DRC) and design for manufacturability (DFM) checks.
• Create / collaborate closely with other design teams, such as circuit designers, system engineers, and packaging engineers, to understand design requirements and constraints.
• Select the appropriate technology and process for the layout design based on the project requirements.
• Optimize the layout design for various factors by working with SI/PI/EMC/Thermal/Mechanical subject matter experts.
• Support ECAD librarians by ensuring development of ECAD library parts meet PCBA Design for Manufacturing (DFM) & GM resiliency requirements.
• Collaborate with component engineers, procurement, and supply chain teams to select appropriate components for PCBA design.
• Apply Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to ensure PCBA design is optimized for efficient assembly processes.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and quality enhancement in PCBA manufacturing.
