Hardware Architect for Electronic Design

Thales India Engineering Competency Center (ECC) in Bangalore is seeking a Technical Lead/Sr Technical Lead for the Hardware engineering team. Responsibilities include hardware subsystems architectural design, trade-off analysis, feasibility studies, proposal preparation, project scheduling and costing, project monitoring, and IVVQ for various Thales products (Defense and aerospace applications). The role involves coordination with Solution/System Architects and Project Design Authority to ensure consistency with architecture and strategies across hardware disciplines such as Board design, FPGA design, low-level software, mechanical design, and testing.

Qualifications:
  • B.Tech/B.E in Electronics, Instrumentation engineering or equivalent with 10-16 years of relevant experience. Higher qualifications like a Master’s are desirable.
  • Domain experience in Avionics or defense systems is desirable.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, stabilize, and maintain hardware architecture throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Perform technology trade-off analysis and feasibility studies to propose optimal architecture.
  • Implement architecture decisions considering cost, supply chain, customer requirements, and technology.
  • Lead hardware architectural studies and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare project proposals, documentation, and coordinate with stakeholders for optimal project execution.
  • Integrate hardware, software, and firmware, and perform IVVQ activities.
  • Ensure compliance with standards, development plans, and industrial strategies.
  • Must have strong experience in the full hardware development lifecycle, product testing, and certification processes.
  • Experience in troubleshooting electronics and embedded hardware systems, and managing project KPIs.
  • Demonstrated leadership and experience working with multidisciplinary teams and external test facilities.
  • Knowledge of certification standards (e.g., DO254, DO160), safety standards (ARP4761), and avionics product knowledge is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
