Job summary

Actalent seeks a Software Engineer to own a hardened Android platform for a fleet of connected vehicles. You will manage end-to-end OS builds, OTA delivery, kernel maintenance, device security, and fleet-management infrastructure from Dulles, VA.

You will lead architecture decisions and set technical standards while guiding a growing team of engineers in a security-focused environment. The role is onsite with potential hybrid/remote options for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
• 7+ years in low-level platform development, ideally Android-based.
• Proficient in C/C++ for systems/kernel development.
• Experience with Linux/Android environments in production settings.
• Eligible to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and extend a AOSP-derived platform build with device trees and HAL customizations.
• Design and operate CI/CD pipelines with secure key management.
• Build an end-to-end OTA update system for reliable deployments.
• Develop custom Linux kernel images and modules; apply security patches.
• Own AVB, bootloader security, SELinux, and code signing processes.
• Implement encryption, remote wipe, tamper detection, rollback protection.
• Evaluate cryptographic modules for U.S. government standards.
• Architect device management: enrollment, provisioning, policy enforcement.
• Collaborate with reverse engineers to harden the platform.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, docs, and best practices.
