Job summary

The Town of Fort Myers Beach is seeking a Marine Operator to maintain the Mooring Field, docks, and related municipal marine facilities under the Harbor Master. This essential role supports Marine Operations and carries duties during emergencies.

Responsibilities include routine facility maintenance, mooring inspections, equipment repairs, assisting the public, and safe boating operations. The position may require extended hours during incidents and travel within the Town's waterways.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED; one (1) year of experience working in marina services and/or related fields.
• Advance Diving Certification or ability to obtain certification within 3 months of hire date.
• Enroll, and successfully pass the Florida Boater License and Safety courses and Ostego Bay Oil Spill Co-op course within three (3) months of hire date.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida Driver's License within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
• FEMA IS 100,200, 700 & 800 within 6 month of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance on Mooring Field facilities and equipment including buoys, systems, signage, parking lots, and navigational aids; diving and cleaning mooring systems and Town vessels.
• Inspects boats, moorings, dinghy docks, and adjacent municipal facilities for adherence to regulations in Harbor Management Plan and to prevent accidents or injury.
• Reports oil and hazardous materials spill; cooperates with local and state authorities for containment.
• Provides assistance to the public regarding waterways, harbor rules, and mooring fees.
• Assists Harbormaster with upland services operations and patron check-in and inquiries.
• Dives the mooring field with scuba gear and maintains systems; replaces damaged underwater equipment.
